Ratiotherm Oskar - Layered thermal store.
Layered reservoir energy storage technology is based on a natural occurrence which takes place in a mass of water such as a deep lake. A reasonably stable large volume of water is much warmer at the top than the bottom.
Ratiotherm, an innovative heating equipment manufacturer from Bavaria developed a product called Oskar on this principle.
Their questions were;
1. “Why in traditional heating design do we heat a mass of water to cool it down again for delivery”.
2. “Why not heat just what is required and deliver it from an energy store at the temperature we want and when we want it”.
3. “Why not do this with as much low grade, low cost renewable energy as possible”.
Based on these queries and over a 15 year period, Ratiotherm have developed a true layered reservoir energy storage system that provides a compact and an ultimate energy efficient solution for integrating multiple and varying energy inputs for the small domestic household up to a large commercial application.
